Analysing Objects to Tailor Environmental Preventive Conservation

چکیده

This work explores the potential of analyzing individual objects to improve their preventive conservation. Previously, environmental recommendations have been based on an average or worst response material groups. Cultural heritage are extremely variable and within a group such as archaeological iron very wide range responses shown. Characterizing single object’s allows its environment be tailored requirements can enable significant resource carbon footprint savings. Three main approaches considered with explored in detail including conservation ramifications. Composition analysis is investigated through stability limestones. The critical concentrations soluble salts causing surface deterioration one has explored. A more rapid method clays acid insoluble fractions from drillings undertaking that non-invasively developed. Measuring rates oxygen consumption analyses iron. distributions previously published data changes examined. scheme for parchment shrinkage temperatures observations presented first time use illustrated newly acquired letter. type required produce these schemes leather.

Analysing biodiversity and conservation knowledge products to support regional environmental assessments

Two processes for regional environmental assessment are currently underway: the Global Environment Outlook (GEO) and Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). Both face constraints of data, time, capacity, and resources. To support these assessments, we disaggregate three global knowledge products according to their regions and subregions.
